Hi friends;

I have installed Oracle 8i and Developer 6i in my system(OS--Win2K Pro).Installation was successful,but after restarting system,it gives error like this "No oracle found"
I have installed Oracle 8i in E:\Oracle\Ora81 and Developer in E:\Dev_6i homes.

My CMOS battery is not proper, System Date/Time is showing 1st Jan 1980 12.00 AM every time when I starts computer.
Can this make problem for oracle not to start properly.Is there anyway to start database manually from DOS prompt
Pls help me to solve this
Thanks in advance
Sajid

It's not difficult or even costly to change the battery. Remove the battery from the motherboard, go to any watch repairing shop and purchase the battery from there (may be for Rs. 5 only)and fix the new battery on the motherboard again. It's just like to change the battery of a calculator.
With my own experience, improper date creates the problem when we install Oracle on our system. Your problem may be due to this date. So change your CMOS's battery, check if Oracle works or not. If not, then remove Oracle from your system by Oracle Installer and install it again.
Hopefully this will solve your problem.

Alternatively, put a DATE statement in the autoexec.bat file and set the date and time each time you start your PC. [Don't turn your PC off Smile]
