hi ,

My database is in archive log mode
Suppose, i do a hot backup .After that, can i delete
the archive logfiles generated before doing the backup.

Does it affect the recover operations if done in a later point of time.

No, this didn't affect the restore, because the Database makes normally a logswitch before the Hot-Back runs, so all Archived Logs u need are the logs during and behind the backup.
To be realy sure I would preffer to hold the last Archived Log before backup, but the others are included.

Suppose you validated your backup and it's good - YES.

Once you have successfuly hot backup completed - there is no need for the archived logs before the backup.

One thing to keep in mind !! - Make sure you archive the redo logs after the datafiles and control files backup, and have this last archived log in your backup set. During the datafiles backup, the redo logs are still produced, so you need to have them when restoring.

Hope that helps,
