Hi Sai,

Although I login locally and just enter user name and passwd, it still show ERROR: ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress.

and i don't understand what the net 8 you stated in the reply message is. can you or anyone tell me how to solve it???? thank you very much!!!

I guess this shows that dba or someone else with privis is shuting down oracle... or oracle is shutdown on its own????
