When I try to start the listener on my Oracle 8.1.7 the server hang when trying to connect to the listener, I get the following output but no more, the process is created but the listener is not working, any ideas?

[[oracle@siglux01 bin]]$ lsnrctl start

No response is recieved when connecting, the process hangs at this point.

pls run a quick check and look whether the concerned ports are available and not used by any other.
